In India, biomedical waste is largely mismanaged. The procedures for safe waste handling are not adhered to. For example, there are deficiencies in proper segregation, packing, storage and transport procedures.
The improper management of biomedical waste causes serious environmental problem in terms of air, water and land pollution.
Safeguarding the health care against occupational health risks from biomedical waste calls for effective control measures.
Health hazards in hospitals, dental clinics and housing home care include: Biological or infectious hazards bacteria — such as tuberculosis, and viruses — HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, which can be transmitted by contact with an infected patient or contaminated body secretion/ fluid. Chemical hazards medications, solutions, or gases, such as ethylene oxide, formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde, waste anaesthetic gases, nitrous oxide, chemotherapeutic agents, laser smoke and aerosolised medications such as Pentamidine, and physical hazards ionising radiation, laser, noise and electricity.
Chemical pollutants that cause outdoor air pollution have two sources: Open burning, and incinerators.

The presence of plastics and hazardous materials in waste generate harmful gases such as oxides of sulphur, nitrogen, carbon dioxide etc, and suspended particulate matter, which may contain heavy metals. These when inhaled can cause respiratory diseases. Certain organic gases, such as dioxin and furans, are carcinogenic, whose effect have longer latency periods. Open burning of biomedical waste is practised in many Indian hospitals. This should be strictly avoided. Air pollution control devices should be used for waste combustion technologies which produce toxic emissions .
Health care workers’ exposure to health hazards can be prevented or reduced. The occupational hygiene hierarchy of controls is a recognised method for primary prevention of occupational injury and disease.
Medical waste shall not be mixed with other waste, and shall be segregated into well labelled different colour containers or bags at the point of generation prior to its storage, transport, treatment and disposal.
A comprehensive medical surveillance programme should be designed and implemented by an experienced and qualified occupational health physician or examiner with inputs provided by the workers, industrial hygienists and health and safety professionals

1. Are you doing all of the WRONG abdominal exercises?

Ab exercises like crunches, sit-ups, and ab machines are the LEAST effective method . We’ll explore what types of exercises REALLY work in a minute.

2. Are you wasting too much time doing ineffective cardio exercise routines?

Boring repetitive cardio exercise routines are NOT the best way to lose body fat .

3. Are you throwing away your money on bogus “fat burner” pills?

You DON’T need to waste your money on expensive “extreme fat burner” pills (that don’t work) or other bogus supplements. A special class of natural foods is much more effective.

4. Have you been scammed by an infomercial ab machine or ab belt?

Ab belts, ab-rockers, ab-loungers, and other infomercial ab-gimmicks… they’re all a complete waste of your time and money. Despite the misleading infomercials, the perfectly chiseled fitness models in the commercials did NOT get their perfect body by using that “ab contraption”… they got their perfect body through REAL workouts and REAL nutrition strategies.

5. Are your “health foods” actually increasing your stomach fat?

Many so-called “health foods” are actually cleverly disguised junk foods that actually stimulate you to gain more belly fat… yet the diet food marketing industry continues to lie to you so they can maximize their profits.

There is no immediate signal of the current financial storm being blown over soon. Who knows the storm may just be gathering and the worse may be still to come. The industrial outlook can hardly remain bright in such uncertain and depressed financial market conditions

How does one generate negativity? By investigating, it becomes clear you are unhappy when someone behaves in a way you don’t like. Unwanted things happen and tension is created within.
If something unwanted happens and one reacts by generating anger, fear or negativity, one should divert attention to something else. For example, get up, take a glass of water-anger will not multiply and you’ll be coming out of of it. Start counting: one, two, three, four.

Or repeat a word, phrase or mantra. This solution was helpful: it worked. It still works. Practicing this, the mind feels free from agitation.

In fact the solution works consciously. Actually, by diverting attention, one pushes negativity to the unconscious, and continues to generate and multiply defilements. At the surface is peace, but in the depths of the mind is a volcano of negativity. Other explorers of truth went further; and by experiencing reality of mind and matter, recognised diverting attention is running from the problem.

Escape is no solution: One must face the problem. Whenever negativity arises, observe it. As soon as one observes mental defilement, it loses strength.
Keeping negativity unconscious will not eradicate it; and allowing it to manifest in action will create more problems.

Later, when it passes, we start crying and repenting, begging pardon from this or that person or God. But next time we are in a similar situation, we react same way. Repenting does not help. The difficulty is you are not aware when it starts. It begins unconsciously and then gains so much strength it overwhelms, and one cannot observe it.

Every defilement generates one sensation or another in different parts of the body. An ordinary person cannot observe abstract mental defilements, but with practice, it is easy to observe respiration and bodily sensations which relate to it

God created man and felt very proud of His creation, for he had created a very special specie that was almost a perfect improvement from all of His earlier creations. The man, in return, was very grateful to God. He worshiped Him, loved Him and was very scared of Him. Man expressed his gratitude by celebrating Him through Holi, Diwali, Durga pooja, Eid, Ramzan, Ester, Christmas, Gurpurab, Buddha Jayanti, etc. God smiled and relaxed, as He had finally created a specie that had the potential of sustaining the world on its own. He had never imagined that the creation He was so proud of would be the one that shall defy Him. God wanted man to be a creator & preserver, like him, instead the man found more fascination in becoming a destroyer. God wanted man to be compassionate, considerate, cordial and civil but he became merciless, self-centered, dictatorial and greedy.

All major problems of today be it the environmental hazards, the vulgar means of amassing & displaying of wealth, growing disharmony among various regions, religions, castes, etc; the loss of moral, social, spiritual and ethical values, etc. all have their roots in immoral, corrupt and unhealthy practices employed by man. We don’t need to be a social scientist to know the way how our governments function, how our representatives behave in parliament & assemblies, how our government servants work. The worst loss of character is widely observed in the government sector that is primarily supposed to look after the needs of common man.
Can a man trust a man anymore? The resounding answer is No. What a shame? We can’t trust ourselves. Unless every man learns to man himself, the world is not going to be safer place to live. What an irony? The most powerful man on earth today (Mr. Bush) is also the most scared man on earth today. There seems to be no hope of revival of peace, tranquility, goodness in this world. Maybe, it’s the right time for all good souls to unite & pray hard to wake up the God out of his slumber and urge him to take charge of his world, once again ……….. Let’s hope so.

It is quite obvious that anywhere around the world, females have a more pronounced preference for monogamous relationships than do men. The reasons for this difference in preferences probably are biological as well as social, and it is hard to judge to what extent they are the one or the other.

The idea that nature has embedded this discrepancy of sexual interest as a mechanism for natural selection cannot be discarded. It does fit Darwin’s idea of male competition and female choice.
The more societies put promiscuous women at a disadvantage, the more it will be the adaptive behavior of women to limit the number of their sexual partners.

To emphasize social causes for women’s apparently limited preference of sexual partners is, however, not non-biological approach. The keyword here is adaptation.

Humans can adapt very quickly to specific conditions of their environment, much quicker than other animals. This can easily be observed in everyday situations.

Women in societies around the world are typically well adapted to the rules that are enforced where they live. They emphasize monogamy more strongly in those countries where extramarital sexual contact is punished more heavily than they do in countries where there are fewer legal sanctions. They will also be more likely to emphasize monogamy in societies where such an attitude earns them a lot of respect, compared to societies that do not care so much about women being monogamous.
Men may suppress their sexual appetite for a multitude of sexual partners in order to conform to social norms, but it seems that they can never fully discard it. However, if they live in miserable circumstances, are socially threatened, or of ill health, and, quite possibly, malnourished, their sexual appetite for a variety of sexual partners will likely decrease.

A solidarity-based philosophy will be needed for the formation of a political movement strong enough to effect the outlined social change, and, finally, to form a strong government based on an ideology that allows people the personal freedom necessary for optimal sexual experience, while at the same time creating an as safe as possible environment, which, ultimately, grants people to die a gentle death.

Goa is India’s smallest state in terms of area and the fourth smallest in terms of population. The state is divided into two districts: North Goa and South Goa. Panaji is the headquarters of the north Goa district and Margao of the south district. Each district is governed by a district collector, an administrator appointed by the government.

Goa is all set to develop infrastructure for IT industries at its Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat coming up at the Dona Paula (North Goa) plateau. The State expects to attract around Rs 500-crore investment to this IT Park in the next couple of years. Property markets of North Goa are much active than those of South Goa, despite the fact that South Goa is more affordable as compared to North Goa and so one can get better bargains here.

This is primarily because of the reason that South Goa is known for its picturesque locales and is comparatively less happening in terms of night life and also new real estate developments, which are mostly coming up in north Goa, especially the capital city of Panjim. Capital values for apartments at Panaji are at Rs 2,500-Rs 3,000 sq. ft, while the same at Calangute is between Rs 2,000 and Rs 2,500 per square foot.

The lower part of Goa, also known as South Goa is much quieter and sleepy than the North Goa, but seeing more of tourist infrastructure development. New hotels and resorts are opening up everyday with most modern tourist facilities and services to make holiday an affair to remember. Some of the finest accommodation options of the recent times have all taken place in South Goa and it is the hub of tourist activities today.

The word “Casanova” evolved from an Italian WOMANIZER (a man who likes many women and has short sexual relationships with them) who had over a hundred one night stands. Casanova was a lady killer from Venice; he would wine and dine women, charm them, make them feel beautiful and irresistible, take them to bed, and … move on to the next woman the next day.

Casanovas are also known as womanizers, lotharios, tom cats, lady killers, seducers, predators and players. Many womanizers have a “line” for picking up women; they have a whole strategy from start to finish.
Womanizers are master manipulators. Though the words “Casanova”, may seem flirty and flattering, the behavior of lady killers is far from innocent.

Womanizers are charming. They’re attentive, interested, curious – and they make women feel special. Womanizers have one goal: to get a woman into bed as quickly as possible and then move on to the next one. They’re seducers who are addicted to the “power” they feel when seducing women.
Womanizers are often in touch with women’s feelings, and can adeptly manipulate those feelings to their advantage. For instance, a womanizer will express empathy for a woman’s professional or personal problems, and let the woman vent her feelings. Once she feels comfortable and relaxed with the lady killer, he’ll make his move.

Some psychologists believe womanizers struggle with low self-esteem, and their sexual conquests make them feel better about themselves. It’s a temporary high, though. Womanizers may have unstable or nonexistent relationships with father figures – especially in early childhood – which makes them insecure about who they are.

“Casanovas tend to exhibit some traits associated with psychopathy,” says Robert Hare, author of “Without Conscience” in Psychology Today . Womanizers may have to manipulate and deceive women to get what they want, and they may ignore guilty feelings – or they may not feel any guilt at all.

The earliest examples of the bracelet worn as a personal adornments as well as sign of rank are to be found in the archives of ancient Egypt.
Even before jewellers translated the fashion into terms of precious metals and gems bracelets were indicated by painted bands round the arms sculpture and paintings of earliest Egyptians show bands of red and blue colour on the arms, both above and below the elbow.
Some of the earliest examples of actual bracelets were composed of glass and gold beads, with others of solid gold, quite plain except for a border of chain work. Bracelets of the Twelfth Dynasty were of thick and thin gold wire, usually with beaten out ends which were twisted on over the other to form a method of fastening. Other in the shape of gold serpents (still in fashion) were worn in the Ptlomic and early Roman periods.
Certainly the workmanship from the close of the fifth century onwards was of impressive fineness, though there was, perhaps, little diversity in design. Bracelets and armlets chiefly followed three fundamental styles – a fine plaited chain united by a clasp in the form of a knot, plaques adorned with repose work, hinged together for flexibility, and a plain circular band of beaten gold.
Armlets and bracelets were certainly worn in the fifteenth century but generally only during the summer. Fashions of the Renaissance did little, in fact to help the display of a bracelets and even to some extent discouraged the fashion. Sleeves were worn long and full, falling gracefully over the hands, and since – bracelets, if worn, could not be seen, they retreated as fashion.
It was during the early part of the nineteenth century that the links which had appeared earlier developed into the expanding bracelet which could be slipped over the hand without fastening or clasp. This was achieved by a series of springs at the links and was rightly considered a notable step forward in jewellery craftsmanship.
Coming to the twentieth – century version of the bracelet, fashion during the first decade saw the stiff bracelet in high favour.
Alongwith Edward VII’s reign came faceted gold bracelets and flat – surfaced ones decorated with engine – turning, while the bracelet in the form of a serpent was still worn – a fashion which has persisted through several thousand years, hard as that may be to believe.
The collection of jewellery, belonging to the Harappa and Mohenjo- Daro culture – 2700 – 1,800 B C, is a class by itself. It would do credit to any modern, sophisticated society. This collection contains a number of gold ornaments, which, in fact exceed the others in quantity.
The range of these articles is very wide and includes brooches, hair and head ornaments, amulets, buttons, girdles, breast – plates, necklaces, foot ornaments, finger rings, bangles and bracelets. The designs, motifs and workmanship of the jewellery cover nearly all the styles of traditional Indian jewellery that we see today, including filigree work.

A recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association tracked how sluggish children become once they hit the teen years. The study, funded by US National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, shows that while 90 per cent of 9-year-olds get a couple of hours of exercise most days, fewer than three per cent of 15-year-old do.
For parents to watch their active young ‘star’ turn into a lazy couch potato can be frustrating and disturbing. But most kids go through this phase. After a couple of fights, the conversations can bring you closer to your teen even though you think the devil’s gotten into him.
Though a small percentage of teenagers still take part in sports, a large number of them become inactive as they grow older, says senior paediatrician at BATRA hospital, New Delhi. Obesity, heart disease and high blood pressure are sometimes the outcome of those lazy teenage years.
This is also a time when the teen’s diet and schedule goes haywire. Needless to say, at a stage when nutrition is most important due to hormonal and physical changes in the body, this change in diet can cause your teen harm.
Dr. NAVDEEP says this is because a number of students get busy with their studies and by juggling school, classes, tuition and sleep; they barely manage enough free time for anything else. “The environment, with the pressure of exams and mark-sheets leaves the child too tired for sports,” adds RAJNEET KAUR, principal, GURU HARKISHAN PUBLIC SCHOOL.
But for ARMAAN, school work wasn’t entirely the problem. The 15-year-old Class-X student couldn’t concentrate on studies. He’d much rather “freshen up” with a game on the computer before opening his books. MANMEET, his mother was fed up. “Five minutes after sitting down to study he says he has a headache but after hours on the computer he’s all right,” she says. “All he does is sleep, play on the computer and go out with friends. And to think that he won medals for his game of table tennis only a few years ago.”
Every time she told her son to take life seriously, not sleep till 2 pm and stop playing games, he’d turn around and tell her that she didn’t understand the stress he was going through. “I’m already confused about what I want to do and to top that I have to deal with my parents’ unreasonably high expectations,” says ARMAAN. “I don’t even sleep all that much, most of the days, even weekends I’m up early in time for school and tuitions. I only oversleep when I’m stressed or if I’m on holiday.”
Clinical psychologist AMIT GUPTA says this is a period of stress for teenagers. “They’re getting messages that they’re older and should take more responsibility. But when they take decisions on their own, parents and elders tell them that they’re too young,”he says, “Occasional moodiness and inactivity is natural, most teens go through that phase. But when it becomes an everyday phenomenon, the parents should try talking to the teen.”
These are the most ‘fun’ years of their life, and not many of us look back to regret sleeping those few hours extra. And if you have a teenage daughter, the changes may be different. So your daughter will probably be lounging all day but one call from her friend and you’ll witness the most animated conversation you’ve seen in months. This isn’t because she doesn’t like or trust you. She needs to know that you’ll understand, and when she realises that, she’ll probably come and tell you what the conversation was about. Most teenagers realise, after years of fighting, or silently rebelling, that their parents did have a point.

The key is to make sure you can communicate with your teen, say experts. “Parents have to try and find out if the child has a problem because the teen may not feel comfortable expressing it” says Dr. NAVDEEP. “I know of this man who hated noise, but his son loved rock music. So the man bought two tickets to a rock concert. When the son asked his father who the second ticket was for, the father replied ‘that’s for me’. I know it can be frustrating for the parent, but remember, we were all teenagers once.”
